How much does it cost to develop a product?

 

The average cost to develop one product is $4000–$8000. Please be aware that this is an average number, and the actual cost will depend on the complexity of the project.

What is the product development lead time?

 

The time it takes to develop a product will vary, depending on the type of product. Our product development lead time average is 4–6 months.

I'm new to the industry and the process. What is needed to get started?

 

Don’t worry if you have no prior experience with apparel product development. All you need is a vision! Don’t be afraid to dream big with us. We enjoy working with clients who are just starting out, and we take pride in our ability to guide clients through the process. Thanks to our expertise in design, development, sourcing, and production, we can make the difficult happen.

Does my location matter when developing a product with Columbus Apparel Studio?

 

If you can’t make it to Columbus, OH, that’s not a problem. We have clients all over the United States, and our team is well equipped to collaborate virtually with you. Our team knows how to bring your product to life, even if you’re located miles away.

What is the MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) for Production?

 

Columbus Apparel Studio is a small batch production facility, and our orders start at 100 units up to 5000 units. The smaller the quantity of your order, the higher the price per unit. Styles that are under 100 units are charged cutting fees and sample pricing.

Does your company need larger production capabilities than we can offer? Not an issue. We have connections with larger clothing and garment manufacturers, and we can connect you with one of our partners.

What is the lead time for production?

 

Most lead times for small batch production fall within 6–10 weeks, starting from the agreed-upon start date.

We determine the start date based on two things:

  • The receipt of all fabrics, trims, and designs by the customer
  • The capacity of our current production schedule at the time of contract.

Is my design concept confidential?

 

Absolutely. At Columbus Apparel Studio, we understand that you, as the client, will be giving us access to your precious confidential information. Likewise, you will also be receiving confidential information from CAS. We will always keep your information protected.

Can outside patterns be used at CAS?

 

Yes. However, we review all outside patterns for efficiency and accuracy to ensure you receive the quality that you deserve. Pattern reviews are charged at $95 per hour, with a two-hour minimum. If we find that we must make an adjustment, we can take care of it. Pattern adjustments are charged at $95 per hour.

How do I best prepare for the initial design concept review meeting?

 

All clients start off with an initial design concept review meeting with our owner. To ensure that you are prepared for the meeting, please bring the following information: sketches, inspiration samples and/or photos, size range, target market, targeted launch date, and fabric swatches.

I need help with fabric and trim sourcing. Can you help me find a fabric supplier?

 

Yes. We can help you with fabric sourcing at an additional cost.

What are the payment terms?

 

We require 50% down at contract signing. Your remaining balance will be due at project completion. Completed projects are not shipped until we receive the final payment. The cost of shipping is charged to the client.
